ZaxTogo an experimental music combo comprising Bristol Artist Singer Songwriter Musician Jon Mills and International Singer Songwriter Guitarist Pete Waller aka DeafboyOne. They are working on new projects initially begun last century and will conclude by dragging those projects kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.
Written in Spring 1983... " We have been waiting so long, to break free..."
ZaxTogo came together early in 1983. Their music is an ongoing exploration into the Tribal World of our Ancestry. Drawing its power from Aborigine and Maori, from the African races, from the North American Indian tribes, from the Aztec and Inca tribes of Central America to the Samurai Warriors of early Japan.
All material written and recorded by ZaxTogo is done so under the collective concept title 'TRIBAL COMPUTER'. Their aim was to create an understanding of the different cultures of the world.
The first two tracks, produced at S.A.M. Studios Bristol, were 'Brave New World' and a new revised version of the traditional ethnic song 'KumbaYah'.
'KumbaYah' has been sung in many places, for many years, and may have been carried across the seas (to America) in early slave trade vessels. It is a very proud song and has been sung by many proud peoples. ZaxTogo have tried to capture just a small part of this 'feeling', and the central Chorus of the track has been described as, Quote " Opening out like a flower, amidst a dark oppression."
ZaxTogo's 'KumbaYah' was their Debut Single
- Jon Mills - Vocals, Bass Guitar, Synthesizer and Xylophone
- Pete Waller - Vocals, Electric Guitars, Acoustic Guitars and Synthesizer
They have recently re ignited their Songwriting partnership under the project title "Bullshit Faith" with tracks including "When we Lit a Fire, Wraith, How much Love do we need, God gave You a River...
