In 1979 Jon Mills and Pete Morse found a common interest in songwriting whilst working in Graphic Design Company in Bristol. Based in Lodge Causeway they started writing and composing indie style tracks but needed a Drummer and Guitarist to complement the group. Drummer Kev Norton (friend of Jon's) stepped in and Guitarist Pete Waller from Bath responded to an ad they'd placed in James Belseys Bristol Evening Post column and Simon Kinnersleys Bath Chronicle Music Column. Intensive Rehearsals began in earnest at Eddie Kings Emporium St Michaels Hill Bristol Their first studio recordings were with Engineer Greg Latham at Studio 34 Clifton Bristol (The Old Boys, Hitting the Headlines and Sales Talk) They embarked on a round of local gigs in Bath and Bristol successfully completing their mini tour supporting The A T's at Weston Rockspot Newbridge Bath. Phil Andrews watched them on the night and wanted to book them for Moles Club but the band split up (too soon!) when Pete Morse headed back to his home town Royal Wootton Basset and Kev Norton packed in playing drums. Jon and Pete went on to form a new band with new Drummer Simon Rogers.
